Claiming the tax break through sale

Claiming the tax break through sale and leasebackLast month's Baker Affleck newsletter featured an article about claiming the 50% tax break if your annual revenue is less than $2 million - if you act before 31st December 2009.

One of the problems for tax payers wanting to acquire business assets and claim the 50% tax break deduction has been that leases aren't eligible. A recent (interpretative) decision by the Tax Office provides a way around this.

Staff profile: Georgia Lane

Georgia LaneGeorgia Lane joined Baker Affleck in August 2009 as a Business Development Manager. Georgia has nearly 20 years sales and marketing experience in the financial services, IT and telecommunications industries.

Her most recent role was as Business Development Manager for superannuation and investment platform Skandia. Prior to that Georgia enjoyed five years with LM Investment Management; a Queensland based Fund Manager, most recently as their Marketing Manager.

Before joining the financial services industry, Georgia was based in Sydney and worked in the IT and telecommunications industry in various marketing and product management roles for Toshiba Information Systems Devision, Telstra and Microsoft.
